Paula Z. Basch, M.S.S.A.

Licensed Independent Social Worker

Paula Zaft Basch is a Licensed Independent Social Worker.  She has been associated with Central Behavioral Healthcare since 2001.  The focus in her current practice is the treatment of depression, anxiety, marital therapy, family therapy, eating disorders, and women’s issues.  She helped develop and co-facilitates the CoPE program, which assists divorcing and divorced parents to refocus on the welfare of their children rather than on conflict between them.

Ms. Basch obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Toledo and her Masters degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University.  In addition she studied for three years at Tel Aviv University.

Ms. Basch started her career at Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center developing and administering the Sexual Abuse Prevention Program.  This program was presented in every school in Lucas County.  She interviewed and supervised 30 volunteers to coordinate the program. In addition, she was an agency representative for the Teen Pep program to address date rape prevention in local high schools.

She held clinical positions at Unison and Harbor Behavioral Healthcare.  Responsibilities included intake assessment, treatment planning, quality assurance, and direct service provision to individuals, couples, families, and groups.

Ms. Basch then worked for five years at an eating disorders clinic.  Areas of practice included  treatment of eating disorders, sexual abuse, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, and parenting issues.

She has been a community volunteer at Connecting Point and Planned Parenthood.  She is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Social Work Department at the University of Toledo Medical College.
